 Manali is situated at the northern end of the kullu valley. It is a popular tourist destination at 40km away from kullu to the north and 280km from shimla, situated at the national higway that leads to Leh. According to the hindu legend it was named after the sage Manu. Manali is an excellent place for a holiday with a breathtaking landscape. One sees well-defined snow capped peaks, the Beas river with its clear water meanders through the town. On the other side are deodar and pine trees, tiny fields and fruit orchards.
